For the past two days, I’ve only eaten one meal each day while doing intermittent dry fasting. I plan on doing it again today, and even if I don’t, it will be a habit for me most days for the rest of my life. At least that’s the plan now, based on the way it makes me feel and the research I’ve done on the benefits of OMAD.
I’ve only eaten one meal a day a handful of times in my life, and only one other time since I started this intermittent fasting and intermittent dry fasting lifestyle in early 2019. I would be lying if I said this was an easy thing to do, especially for someone who is very thin and has a very fast metabolism. I also work out daily, so that makes it even more challenging.
Not only did I always think it would be too difficult to do (and make no mistake, it IS difficult for me, and for most people to transition into), I also always bought into the eat-three-meals-a-day mantra, and how breakfast was the most important meal of the day, and how skipping meals was unhealthy, etc. This is all nonsense. In fact, they are all lies that you’ve been fed your entire life to keep you sick, overweight, and spending more money on food than you really ever needed to, especially any of the companies that advertise on TV, with their toxic packaged, processed “food.”
The health benefits of OMAD are numerous, and basically the same as intermittent fasting. The difference is that most intermittent fasting plans have you eating in an 8-hour window, or at least a 6-hour or 4-hour window, on the more extreme end. But OMAD is one meal a day, and usually an eating window of around one hour or less. Here are a few links to some of my favorite resources that talk about how OMAD can help you, along with the benefits of autophagy (which comes into play when you only eat one meal a day and fast for 23-24 hours)…

Doing intermittent dry fasting the entire day leading up to your one meal can also be extremely beneficial, which is why I’d recommend having your one meal for dinner, in the early evening, if possible. But if you plan to do intermittent water (and salt) fasting, or just to have the purest possible water when you do hydrate with or after your meal at night, I would make sure you have a high-quality water purifier or bottled purified water to give you the most effective hydration possible along with the most health benefits.
